DAY 1️⃣: SMALL CIRCUIT
The tour begins at 8:00 am, and a driver will pick you up from your hotel or guesthouse to take you to the following locations:
1. Angkor Wat temple: The iconic Angkor Wat is the largest religious monument in the world and a masterpiece of Khmer architecture. Built in the 12th century, it was originally a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu but later transformed into a Buddhist temple.
2. Angkor Thom temple (South gate, Bayon, Bapuon, Phimeanakas, Elephant terrace, Leper King Terrace): Angkor Thom was the last capital of the Khmer Empire. Within its walls, you’ll find several notable sites, including the South Gate adorned with imposing stone faces, the Bayon temple featuring numerous carved smiling faces, the Bapuon temple with its grand pyramidal structure, Phimeanakas temple, the Elephant Terrace known for its intricate carvings, and the Leper King Terrace with its unique statues.
3. Chau Say Thevoda: Chau Say Thevoda is a small yet elegant temple dedicated to Shiva and Vishnu. It showcases intricate carvings and delicate architecture.
4. Thommanon temple: Thommanon is a well-preserved temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It features intricate bas-reliefs and exquisite architectural details.
5. Ta Keo temple: Ta Keo is an unfinished temple mountain dedicated to Lord Shiva. Despite being incomplete, it remains an impressive sight with its towering structure and massive sandstone blocks.
6. Ta Prohm temple: Ta Prohm is famous for its atmospheric beauty, as it has been left largely in its natural state, with trees and roots intertwining with the temple ruins. It is a captivating sight and was featured in the movie “Tomb Raider.”
7. Banteay Kdei temple: Banteay Kdei is a Buddhist temple known for its intricate carvings, galleries, and hidden corners. It is a peaceful and serene spot to explore.
8. Prasat Kravan temple: Prasat Kravan is a unique temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is known for its five brick towers, each containing impressive bas-reliefs depicting scenes from Hindu mythology.
After the tour, the driver will drop you off at your hotel or any desired locations in the city, allowing you to enjoy dinner and evening activities.
DAY 2️⃣: Sunrise at Angkor Wat, Big Circuit, and Banteay Srey Temple
The tour starts at 5:00 am to witness the magnificent sunrise over Angkor Wat, one of the most awe-inspiring sights in Cambodia. The driver will pick you up from your hotel or guesthouse and take you to the following locations:
1. Preah Khan temple: Preah Khan is a vast temple complex with impressive architecture and intricate carvings. It was built in the 12th century as a Buddhist monastery and university.
2. Neak Pean temple: Neak Pean is a unique temple situated on an artificial island surrounded by a large water reservoir. It is known for its tranquil setting and symbolic medicinal ponds.
3. Ta Som temple: Ta Som is a small temple with a picturesque entrance gate covered in ancient tree roots. It offers a glimpse into the grandeur of the Khmer Empire.
4. East Mebon temple: East Mebon is a temple-mountain dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. It features large elephant sculptures and intricate carvings.
5. Pre Rup temple: Pre Rup is a temple with a pyramid-like structure, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. It is often visited at sunset, but it can also be explored during the day.
6. Banteay Samre temple: Banteay Samre is a well-preserved temple known for its detailed carvings and peaceful atmosphere. It showcases a harmonious blend of Hindu and Buddhist architectural styles.
7. Banteay Srei (37 km far from the city): Banteay Srei, also known as the “Citadel of Women,” is a smaller temple complex renowned for its intricate and delicate stone carvings. It is considered a jewel of Khmer artistry.
9. Dinner with Apsara show: Experience the magic of Cambodia with a dinner featuring traditional Khmer cuisine and a mesmerizing Apsara dance performance. Immerse yourself in the country’s rich cultural heritage as you enjoy delicious local dishes and witness the graceful movements of dancers in beautiful costumes.
